The Blueprint - Part 0: Introduction
Taking an agile approach to implementing Generative AI
Hello and welcome to the first installment of "The Blueprint: An Agile Approach to Implementing Generative AI."
Generative AI isn’t merely the new shiny thing, a buzzword or a fad - it will quickly become an essential part of the modern business ecosystem. It has the potential to automate content creation, customise user experiences, and even revolutionise whole industries.
However, for businesses to leverage this technology effectively, an agile approach is essential. Generative AI is still incredibly new and we’re super early in its development. Progress is coming rapidly and we’re just starting to see enterprise level applications coming to market. However, it’s far from clear how businesses should implement Generative AI either in the short term or the longer term. There are many considerations and challenges to overcome, which is why I started The Blueprint.
The Blueprint will be a series of articles that explores how to adopt and implement Generative AI in a flexible, innovative and iterative way. I’ll keep it broad and simple, but also practical and useful. Many of the topics that I’ll cover in the series will be applicable across many knowledge-based industries but I’ll occasionally dive a little deeper into the Advertising industry as that’s my stomping ground.
Here’s a little flavour of what you can expect to see covered in the series over the coming weeks and months:
A discussion of the importance of taking a data-led approach.
A look at what a modern business technology stack could like to include Generative AI.
Some thoughts on data fluidity, classification and how they will influence Generative AI training decisions.
Practical considerations for training Generative AI models.
Outlining organisational structure and the skills required to take advantage of Generative AI including the ethical considerations.
How to navigate the build/partner/buy conundrum when it comes to developing Generative AI models.
The importance of continual testing and user feedback.
A look at budgeting for Generative AI, including cost examples and environmental considerations.
And much, much more!
My aim is that through this series you’ll develop a comprehensive understanding and blueprint for implementing Generative AI. This journey is not just about adopting a new technology - it’s about cultivating a mindset that embraces change and is ready to adapt. It's about equipping yourself with the knowledge and tools to navigate the complex landscape of generative AI and use it to transform your business.
