Your good enough point and your Google point might be the same argument. If consumers really don't need smarter models, then the consumer race is just distribution from here, and Google already owns distribution. Which kind of undercuts the gamble framing, maybe OpenAI isn't risking its consumer lead so much as admitting it was never going to hold anyway.

It’s a tricky one to call. OpenAI have been so dominant in the consumer space and ‘ChatGPT’ is now the adjective for using an AI Platform just like ‘Google’ is the adjective for search. But this is a very hard pivot we’re seeing towards enterprise and I don’t think they can continue to compete with Google unless they’re 100% dedicated. As you say, Google have the distribution, so might just be a matter of time.

Interesting in Australia I think most enterprises outside of MSFT copilot are choosing Anthropic as they captured that market first will be interest to See if OpenAI up

Same in most markets - Anthropic have been ahead in Enterprise and their revenues have exploded this year, which is why OpenAI are now aggressively trying to catch up. It's going to make things very interesting over the next 12 months!
