Somewhat unrelated question but forgive me as I am fairly new to ai and still learning, Why does the top tear of chat gpt cost so much? Is it due to its high development cost?
I think it's the AI company's trying to align the cost with the value that they thing users will get for it. Most of the development costs are sunk costs that they need to recuperate which they're doing through a combination of the API costs and adding new features to the chat interface that they can charge a premium for.
